Not your ordinary Chrysler 300

I've noticed it as the safety car at V8 Supercar events. Is this car popular in Australia? Is it right hand drive there? What is the typical owner, demographically speaking?

The car is somewhat popular here and yes it is right hand drive. The typical owner is a middle aged cashed up bogan with self esteem issues and overall poor taste.

Just like Bolwell owners.

I must have poor taste - I like 'em. I'm not a cashed up bogan though (no cash).

For our North American friends, you call bogans red neck white trash.

I like em too and using Benz technology can't all be bad. And the aftermarket mesh grilles look great. The 300C Touring with the CRD Diesel is a great tow car and beat Holden to market with the sports roof wagon concept in a big car. My lawyer observes that anyone who did not go to Geelong Grammar is a bogan. As he also observes that if you are not a member of the Melbourne Club you are very definitely a bogan. Been collected by several 300C's as limousines in Oz. Particularly after the Fairlane/LTD's went west. White trash are the very best people to party with and I have had the very best times in Texas and Alabama pub crawling with em. I must be a bogan and happy to be one. Most tradesmen would be considered bogans by the upper classes yet the Australian Rich List has plumbers as the fastest growing category of multi-millionaires in the country. And every Bollie owner has problems or they wouldn't own the things and we are all middle aged or older. Poor taste ? Hmmm! Most of us look at other guys wives and ask how could they? But we all see our own wives thru our own glasses so taste is very personal thing.

That was me who made the comment about bogan owners. Geez I love a good shit stir, settle down boys I was being a bit facetious. I won't post anything vaguely sarcastic in future. Gotta take my Hyundai Excel for a fang past the local girls high school now.

I think the paint and doors spoil this 300C.
That said, I've always liked the 300C. I'll have a black SRT wagon, thank you.
I don't care if "cultured" people consider it brash, bogan and loud.

Don't stop posting this is fun. The spice of life and nothing I put up was anything but fun. Good god some people even liked P76's and Pommie chicks. Yes I am a Westie or nowadays a bogan except I cannot stand flannelette shirts (they itch) and haven't enough hair for a mullet but really like getting on the piss with good fun people. Not for instance my upper class lawyer twit. $ 500 bottles of red at my expense jeez can u imagine how many stubbies that would buy - or at least some good old Aussie Shiraz.

The trouble with blogs is they do not convey the nuances of the mood of the comment. I might be all serious OR I might be on my 4th half litre of German beer or my second bottle of redddddd! The fun in JL blog is that it is irreverent. How many of us have friends or relatives who are dead from the waist up? Lights are on but nobody's at home? Cannot say that about us. All those still alive raise your glasses and drink a toast to having the youngest second or third wife you can afford. Now back to the 300C. Lovely car - Kiriakou told me so. Perfect replacement for his R series Valiant and before that his Mk2 Zephyr. Oops sorry that is not PC.. And he has changed his name to Kerry these days.

Sorry for starting this controversy. Keep up the interesting posts, John!

As an American, I had to Google the term "bogan".

Cheers.

What would we do without Google?

JL told me that 94% of people simply read blogs and only 6 % make the effort to post. No posts = no blog.

Do not be sorry for starting the thread as it got everyone going.

Recently in Monroe, Mississippi I was gassing up the Infiniti and at the pump next to me there was a family straight from "duelling banjos territory" complete with the overalls and heavy arty in the gun rack, now they WERE bogans.
