How many genuine Nagari sports were there really?

Official publications regularly list the Nagari production figures as being about 130 of which there were 13 of the open sports version. I started to compile a list of the chassis numbers of the Nagaris that left the factory as sports convertibles and here they are :- B8/47, 55, 59, 60, 61, 62, 64, 66, 67, 68, 69, 77, 78, 81, 82, 108, 111, and 119. That adds up to 18 in my book and it doesn't include the rebodied coupes and Fibrecar and other reproductions.

I suppose the photo is B8/66 I'll bet you have a story to tell about this one.

Yes, it is B8/66. It was built in December 1972 with a lightweight body for Ross Bond but was never used as a race car. It was a private road car from the outset and owned by Peter Hopwood. Peter successfully raced a very quick Lotus Elan but was from the Austin Healey background that just about all of the Nagari racers from Victoria, NSW and SA came from. That's another story in itself. Peter drove it until 1981 when he sold it to Ray Moore's (yet another Nagari owner from the past- it's very incestuous isn't it) friend, Mark Cleaves.
